We've Been There

This isn't just business for us, it's personal. Both Shane Burgman and Kayla Crouse, are veterans who have gone through the PCS process firsthand. They know the stress of uprooting your family, the uncertainty of moving somewhere new, and the pressure of making major housing decisions on a military timeline. When you work with us, you're working with agents who truly get it, because we've lived it.

Get to Know Kayla

(Holding it down for the Air Force)

Kayla, a proud Florida native hailing from Satellite Beach in Brevard County, has always had a strong connection to her home state. Her journey took a patriotic turn when she felt compelled to serve her country, leading her to an honorable 4-year stint in the United States Air Force as a Bioenvironmental Engineering Technician.

During her active duty years, Kayla earned her bachelor's degree in Public Health from the University of West Florida. Her military life, marked by frequent relocations, ignited a keen interest in real estate, as she navigated the purchase and sale of homes during her transitions.

Following her service in the Air Force, Kayla charted a new course, earning her MBA in Project Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. Simultaneously, she enrolled in real estate school, obtaining her Broker’s Associate certificate from North Carolina, where her husband was stationed. This is when Kayla discovered a profound love and passion for real estate, swiftly becoming a top-producing agent with an impressive clientele.

With her husband's retirement from the Air Force, Kayla is thrilled to bring her expertise back to her hometown. Joining The Burgman Group at Compass, she is excited to leverage her top-notch negotiating skills, always prioritizing her client's best interests throughout transactions and beyond.

Armed with a master's degree in business, personal experience in real estate transactions, and a highly successful career in North Carolina, Kayla is eager to contribute her talents to the Space Coast community, helping clients find their dream homes.

At the end of the day, Shane believes that buying or selling a home should be one of the best experiences of your life. He has built an entire team around making sure it is.

FAQ's about PCS

An MRP is a REALTOR® who has completed specialized training through the National Association of REALTORS® in serving military clients. This certification covers VA loans, PCS timelines, and the unique financial and logistical challenges that come with military life. Both of our agents hold this designation.

Absolutely. We offer live virtual tours via FaceTime, Zoom or pre-recorded video for YouTube. We can write and negotiate offers on your behalf, and represent you at closing — all without you stepping foot in Florida until you're ready. Remote and military families do this with us regularly.

Yes. We offer both mail-away closings and Remote Online Notarization (RON), so you can sign and close from anywhere in the world — including overseas.

Yes! We work with the best VA lenders in the area. Happy to make an intro.

You can have two VA-backed loans at the same time. If you're PCSing and keeping your current home, you may be able to use your remaining entitlement to purchase your next one. We work closely with VA-approved lenders who can walk you through your specific eligibility.

The DoD does not directly reimburse realtor commissions, but many closing costs qualify for reimbursement under Joint Travel Regulations (JTR). We can help connect you with the right lender and resources to make sure you're not leaving money on the table.

As soon as possible — ideally the same day. A typical transaction from listing to close runs around 60–70 days. The sooner you reach out, the more options you'll have and the less pressure you'll face against your report date.

Yes. Not every PCS situation calls for buying right away, and we get that. We can help you find a rental near the base while you get settled, learn the area, and decide what's right for your family.

You have options — sell it, rent it out, or in some cases keep it as an investment property. We'll help you run the numbers on each scenario and connect you with a trusted property manager/listing agent in your area.
